About the event

Join us for the popular Small Business Workshops in your region and hear from inspirational business owners and industry experts on 3 important topics:

1. How to Build your Business, by Sandra Robertson, Business Advisor and CEO at iPensions Group

  • The important tools all businesses should use to review their performance
  • How to use the information to determine where you want to go and how to get there.

2. How to Build your Brand to get noticed and start selling by Terry van Rhyn, Founder Ashgrove Marketing

  • The importance of knowing you audience and how to reach them
  • The one truth that your business stands for and how to authentically communicate it
  • How to create a brand that sells

3. Networking with a purpose, an interactive session led by Carol Glover 'Maverick Maker'

  • Explore how you can apply the learnings from Sandra and Terry's presentations to your own business

Tea and Coffee with light refreshments will be provided through out the session and included in the ticket price. Venue doors open by 5:45pm.

Business owners, founders and managers across all sectors and industries can benefit for the insights and case studies that will be presented by our panel of speakers. We encourage business owners from Ramsey, Garff, Lezayre, Jurby, Andreas and Bride to attend the Northen region workshop.

Presenter Profiles

  • Sandra Robertson: Sandra moved to the Island 20 years ago and is an experienced CEO, non-executive director and trusted advisor having worked for entrepreneurs at board level for the past 14 years. She is currently Group Chief Executive Officer at iPensions Group.
  • Terry van Rhyn: Terry began his career as a FMCG packaging designer for Reckitt and Coleman, later forming his own design studio. In his illustrious agency career he has worked on multi-national liquor brands including Cinzano, Moët et Chandon, Hennessy, Baileys, and Jameson’s. Ashgrove Marketing was formed in 2007 when Terry moved to the Isle of Man and has recently celebrated 15 years of being in the Island.
  • Carol Glover- "The Maverick Maker": Carol is a Disruptive Leader, Speaker, Coach, Mentor, Podcaster and Edutainer from the Isle of Man, who unlocks world-class performance by connecting leaders to their Maverick Mindset. She’s held Intrapreneurial leadership roles across the world retailing, the public sector, distribution management, and voluntary organisations, supporting entrepreneurs and leaders worldwide. Carol is a EMCC Senior Coach & Mentor, and as Business Isle of Man Board member and VP Strategy for Chamber of Commerce it is her fervent desire to give small business owners and entrepreneurs a voice.
  • Thomas Richardson-Hall: Thomas joined Business Isle of Man in 2020 having worked in the commercial banking sector in the Island post completing his degree in Business Management Innovation & Enterprise. Thomas has recently taken responsibility for Small Business Development and in this role he is conducting regular business check-ins across the towns, forging links with local industry groups and working to ensure Small Business views are captured and acted upon .

What is new this year?

The first two series of workshops were well received with over 750 attendees across 23 sessions. Based on survey feedback with past attendees, we are for the first time introducing a new format which includes:

  1. Sessions across 4 regions covering businesses across the Island
  2. Evening sessions to give more flexibility to business owners
  3. Multiple topics covered in each session
  4. Opportunity to network and connect with like-minded individuals
