People Actioning Change Together Pledge

Let’s all help to tackle mental ill health and prevent suicide. Take the Manx People Actioning Change Together Pledge.

Sometimes people feel too overwhelmed, distressed or embarrassed to ask for help. We can all take positive action by pledging to talk openly about mental ill health and suicide, whether this means asking for help for yourself or for someone you may be worried about, it is always safe to talk about mental ill health and suicide. Together we can all help to remove the stigma!

Act today by signing up to the ManxPACT Pledge

Take personal positive action via the pledge and tell us what you will do in your community to help remove the stigma associated with mental health and suicide. By taking the Pledge you can make a huge difference.

I  [your name] hereby pledge that I will raise awareness of mental ill health and tackle the stigma. I will:

  • Ask directly about suicide if I’m worried about someone;

  • Talk openly about mental health to others;

  • Listen without judgement; and

  • [For those in employment]   Promote wellbeing in the workplace.”

Should you wish, there are further steps you might wish to consider such as:

  • Self-Care & Awareness: Check in with your own needs, prioritizing rest, good nutrition, and avoiding harmful substances.

  • Education: Learning about mental health to better understand yourself and others.

  • Support & Connection: Talking to someone when needed, listening when others need to talk, and connecting with your community.

  • Stigma Reduction: Treating mental health with the same importance as physical health and speaking openly.

  • Action & Kindness: Performing acts of kindness, offering support, using encouraging words, and smiling at strangers.

  • Workplace Focus: Leaders pledging time to improve workplace mental health support.

  • Political Focus: Challenge the Government to address the mental health and suicide crises through investment and better legislation.

    I would urge all politicians to sign up to this pledge.  By taking a lead, politicians can begin to drive through many changes to our community with little cost.
